Quassy Amusement & Waterpark’s classic Allan Herschell Little Dipper roller
coaster train cars are getting a facelift this winter in the Middlebury,
Conn., facility’s maintenance shop. The ride made its debut at Quassy in
1952 along with three other Herschell kiddieland rides: Sky Fighter jets,
wet boats and pony carts. The coaster’s frame and wheels as well as the
seats are shown during the refurbishment process this week. The jet and
boat rides continue to operate within the circumference of the roller
coaster, while the pony carts were retired several years ago to make room
for attraction updates at the lakeside property. Quassy opens for its 111th
season of operation on April 27. (Quassy photos)
