MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Wooden Warrior, the marquee roller coaster at Quassy
Amusement & Waterpark here, continues to get high marks from coaster
enthusiasts worldwide.

ElloCoaster, an online magazine dedicated to roller coasters, theme
parks, and “other thrilling diversions,” announced this week that Wooden
Warrior was rated among the top 50 wood coasters on the planet.

Warrior placed 40 on the list, based on an ElloCoaster poll among theme
park and roller coaster enthusiasts that enjoy attractions worldwide.

“It’s a very impressive list of rides, and to make it is certainly an
honor,” Quassy President Eric Anderson said of the announcement.

Opening in 2011, Wooden Warrior has since drawn international acclaim as
its relatively small footprint – 1,250 feet in length and 35 feet tall –
packs a wallop.

“Quassy really thought outside the box on this one, in that the coaster
is kid-sized, but [1] it’s a woodie [2] they got The Gravity Group to
design it [3] it introduced a brand new kind of wood coaster train and [4]
it kicks all kinds of butt,” ElloCoaster Editor Jim Winslett said in a
published review.

The ride was the first in all of North America to feature the
state-of-the-art Timberliner train from Gravitykraft, sister firm of the
ride’s designer, The Gravity Group.

Quassy’s Wooden Warrior Day

Attendance at the annual Wooden Warrior Day has dropped significantly the
past couple of years. I inquired with the park about an event for 2019 and
received the following reply:

“Based on last year’s turnout, we are not going to hold a May Wooden
Warrior day this year. However, please note that June 8 Coasting For Kids
for Give Kids The World is taking shape and registration will be open for
that soon. There will be a morning ERT on both coasters for that event.”

Details on the June 8 *Coasting For Kids* fundraiser will be shared when
all the details are in place. I hope will you join me for this great event!

ACE New England’s – The Great Nor’Easter 2019

As 2018 winds to a close, arrangements for 2019’s *The Great Nor’Easter*
have been made.

All the details for our off-season regional ACE event have been finalized
and the flier is attached to this email.

The Fifth Annual ACE New England Photo Contest will also be held at the
event, and contest rules are included with the flier.

There are a couple of changes to our event for 2019, starting with a
location that is not at an amusement park. The second change is a $10
registration fee (which will help in the cost for food, supplies and hall
rental).

One guest is permitted per each ACE member for $20. Note that guests can
get a 6-month Trial membership to ACE for only $20. If they join, they can
attend the event for only $10, and if they attend other ACE events during
their membership, they’ll register at the ACE rate. They can join online
at: www.aceonline.org/page/JoinACE (mail-in membership information is on
the same site).

There are 2 ways to register – complete the form on the flier and mail it
in with your payment, or online (link is on the flier). There is no
surcharge for online registrations.

Invitations have been sent to all the New England parks, and we already
have confirmation that representatives from Santa’s Village, Funtown
Splashtown USA and Six Flags New England will be in attendance.

If you have any questions you can simply reply to this email.

Happy 2019 to You and Yours, and I hope to see you soon!
